2025 progress highlights
2025 was a year of progress across our Building Forever priorities, from supporting livelihoods and protecting nature, to reducing emissions and strengthening traceability.

Our 2030 sustainability goals
In 2025, we completed our review of Building Forever to evolve our goals and focus our sustainability efforts on the areas where we believe we can make the greatest difference. Livelihoods, Nature and Climate now have ambitious 2030 goals, underpinned by our enduring commitment to Provenance.
Throughout 2025 we made progress in each area.
LIVELIHOODS
2030 GOAL:
Support four jobs in communities for every De Beers operational job.
2025 PROGRESS:
2.6 jobs supported in communities for every De Beers operational job.
In 2025, our operations supported more than 27,000 livelihoods across our producer countries. We continued to invest in enterprise development, skills programmes and economic diversification initiatives, including committing US$70 million to the Diamonds for Development Fund in Botswana.
NATURE
2030 GOAL:
Secure three times more land for nature than we impact.
Support partnerships to safeguard a further 13 million acres.
2025 PROGRESS:
375,000+ acres of conservation land managed.
From rhino conservation in Botswana to protecting critical landscapes through Okavango Eternal, our work focuses on helping nature thrive alongside our operations. Across De Beers sites, our biodiversity programmes help to avoid and reduce impacts, while our partnerships support conservation and conservation-compatible livelihoods.
CLIMATE
2030 GOAL:
Reduce our carbon footprint by one third by 2030.
2025 PROGRESS:
14% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions since 2021.
We are proud to support Envusa, a 520 MW renewable energy project helping to advance the energy transition in Southern Africa.
Our climate approach is guided by our validated science-based targets, focusing on delivering measurable emissions reductions across our operations.
In 2025, we advanced several projects in our climate innovation pipeline, continuing to reduce emissions through increased energy efficiency and renewable electricity adoption, while progressing our transition to a lower-carbon operating model.
PROVENANCE
OUR ENDURING COMMITMENT:
Set the global standard for diamond provenance.
2025 PROGRESS:
5 million rough diamonds individually scanned on Tracr.
20 years of the Best Practice Principles.
Throughout 2025, we continued to strengthen confidence in the origin and integrity of our diamonds through traceability, responsible sourcing and independent assurance. We celebrated five million rough diamonds scanned on Tracr and marked 20 years of our Best Practice Principles, which continue to help set standards across the diamond value chain.

Okavango Delta
PROTECTING A NATURAL WONDER
The Okavango Basin connects people, wildlife and ecosystems across Angola, Namibia and Botswana. Through Okavango Eternal, De Beers and National Geographic Society are working to protect the river's source waters, strengthen conservation and support communities whose livelihoods depend on this extraordinary landscape.
EntreprenHer
WOMEN’S ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
Across Botswana, South Africa and Namibia, EntreprenHER is helping women entrepreneurs build the skills, confidence and connections to grow their businesses. Funded by De Beers and delivered with UN Women and local partners, the programme has supported almost 4,000 women, including Botswana farmer and entrepreneur Grace Machete.
GEMFAIR
SUPPORTING ARTISANAL AND SMALL-SCALE MINING
For millions of people worldwide, the artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) sector underpins livelihoods, particularly in regions that are affected by climate change, displacement and rural unemployment. GemFair works directly with artisanal and small-scale diamond miners to improve standards and livelihoods.
Envusa
REIMAGINING ENERGY
Renewable electricity plays an increasingly important role in South Africa’s energy mix. Through EnVusa Energy, we are supporting the development of new wind and solar generation capacity.

20 YEARS OF SETTING THE STANDARD
For 20 years, our responsible sourcing and assurance programme has helped to raise standards across the diamond value chain, expanding accountability and evolving in step with changing global expectations.
