De Beers Group today announced its new organisational structure and Executive Committee.
The structure is designed to deliver De Beers’ strategy, generating sustainable profitable growth and building on the company’s leading position in the diamond industry.
The composition of the De Beers Executive Committee - the most diverse in its history - reflects the breadth of the business, stretching from its mines in southern Africa and Canada to its jewellery boutiques in Europe, America and Asia.
Al Cook, Chief Executive Officer of De Beers Group, said: “I am proud to announce our new Executive Committee. This team combines members with deep experience of De Beers with new leaders who bring fresh perspectives. I look forward to working with each of them to deliver an exciting future for De Beers.”

Al Cook Chief Executive Officer De Beers Group | ![]() | Al became Chief Executive Officer of De Beers Group in February 2023. He was previously Executive Vice President, Exploration and Production International at Equinor, where he led Equinor’s multi-billion dollar global E&P business across Africa, the Americas and Europe. Prior to this, Al led Equinor's global strategy and business development, developing the company’s net zero strategy. Before joining Equinor, Al had a 20-year career at BP, where his final role was Chief of Staff to the CEO. | |||||||

Sandrine joined De Beers on 1 December 2023. She was previously with Maus Freres Brands Group for eight years, most recently as CEO of Aigle and before that, Group Marketing & Branding EVP for Lacoste. Prior to this, Sandrine spent nearly two decades at Unilever. | Moses joined De Beers in 2022 as Managing Director of Managed Operations. He began his career at AngloGold Ashanti in 1998 where he held several senior roles. Moses brings a proven track record in leading mining operations, driving safety and performance. | Paul became Executive Vice President, Diamond Trading in 2013. He joined De Beers in 1983 and has held leadership roles across the UK and Africa. He has been based in Botswana since 2012 and oversaw the migration of De Beers’ rough diamond trading from the UK to Botswana. | |||||||

Riaan was appointed to the Executive Committee in 2022, and became Chief Executive Officer of Namdeb in 2017. Prior to this, he held a number of leadership and project roles within Namdeb, after joining the company in 1995. | Siobhán was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Element Six and joined the Executive Committee in February 2023. Prior to this, she was Executive Director for Sales & Marketing and Executive Director, Innovation. | Willy was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Debmarine Namibia, and joined the Executive Committee, in 2022. Prior to this, he served as Chief Financial Officer and has been a member of the Debmarine Namibia leadership team for 10 years. | Andrew joined Debswana and the Executive Committee in May 2022. Before joining De Beers, she was a partner at Webber Wentzel. | Burger joined the Executive Committee in 2017. He spent most of his career in the design, construction and services of diamond processing plants, technology development, marine mining, contractor mining, and business planning. | Tom will join the Executive Committee on 1 January 2024. He is currently Head of Legal for De Beers Group. He previously held senior legal roles at Element 6 and Rexam plc, and worked as a corporate finance associate at Allen & Overy. | Richard was appointed Chief Financial Officer in October 2023, following five years as Group Financial Controller. Before joining De Beers, he held senior finance roles including at Anglo American Thermal Coal, where he led the finance department. | ||||||

Prior to this, she held HR leadership roles in De Beers and Anglo American following a career at Debswana that began in 2000. | Ras joined the Executive Committee in 2022 as EVP, Transformation, and joined the Group as SVP of Transformation and HR for Brands & Consumer Markets and Corporate Functions. Prior to this, she was Global HR Director and Retail Director for ghd. |
