De Beers is proud to celebrate and support National Aboriginal Day
21 Jun 2016

June 21 is National Aboriginal Day in Canada – a day in which we celebrate the diverse cultures, heritage and accomplishments of First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples in across the country.

De Beers is proud to be supporting several events in Ontario and the NWT:

  • In Timmins, De Beers is sponsoring a celebration at Hollinger Park which will include a sunrise ceremony, feast, songs and prayers, cultural games and more.
  • In Yellowknife, De Beers is continuing its sponsorship of the annual fish fry hosted by the North Slave Metis Alliance at Somba K’e Civic Plaza. The event will include drumming, dancing, throat singing, cultural presentations and more.
  • Celebrations in Fort Smith, Fort Resolution and Hay River hosted by the Northwest Territory Metis Nation.
  • Employees at our Victor Mine in northern Ontario are planning their annual celebration that will include traditional food, a goose-plucking and goose-calling contest, drumming and dancing.
