A trio of Forevermark diamonds from De Beers’ Victor Mine provided some dazzling sparkle to the annual 19th annual Spring Gala in Timmins, Ontario on May 6, 2017.
More than $235,000 was raised at the event and all funds will be going toward the purchase of ophthalmic equipment for Timmins and District Hospital.
A 1.02 carat Forevermark Black Label Diamond valued at $12,500, one of the prizes in the lottery portion of the Foundation’s Spring Gala, which was won by Jeannie Daigneault. The lottery alone raised $87,500.
A pair of 0.34 carat Forevermark Black Label Diamonds were offered during the live auction portion of the gala, generating another $2,500.
“Many thanks to the De Beers team for your overwhelming support of the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation and, more specifically, this event,” said Patricia Gaudreau, Assistant Executive Director of the Foundation. “We simply could not do the work we do without the generosity of businesses like De Beers.”
Over the past seven years, De Beers Canada has donated over $90,000 worth of diamonds to support the Spring Gala, which have helped the Foundation raise hundreds of thousands of dollars toward purchase of medical equipment for the Timmins and District hospital.
During 2016, Victor Mine provided over $68,000 in cash and in-kind support for a variety of initiatives in the communities close by.
