De Beers Canada employees working at our Calgary Operational Support Centre answered a call for help from the Calgary Veterans’ Food Bank.

In November, employees participated in a food drive, collecting over 200 pounds of non-perishable food items and $100 in cash for the Veterans’ Food Bank, which had issued a call for support due to dwindling donations associated with the economic slowdown affecting Calgary and the rest of Alberta. The organization helps veterans struggling to provide for themselves and their families year round.

Travis Murray, Procurement Superintendent at the Calgary office, organized the event.

“Many of this food bank’s clients are elderly citizens who have stepped forward over the years to help in peacekeeping, disaster relief or resolving conflicts, often while their young families waited at home hoping for their safe return,” said Travis.
