CreeQuest, a Cree-owned hospitality business from the Taykwa Tagamou Nation, captured the De Beers Canada Indigenous Partnership Award on May 11 during the sold out 2017 NOVA Business Excellence Awards held in Timmins, Ontario.
One of 16 local businesses honoured at the gala event, CreeQuest was founded in 2010 by Tina Gagnon and provides services in remote project camps throughout Treaty 9 territory offering laundry and housekeeping services, catering, camp administration and more. CreeQuest was chosen by an independent panel of judges organized by the Timmins Chamber of Commerce from among more than 45 nominations.
“De Beers Canada is proud to celebrate the innovation and hard work of Aboriginal entrepreneurs and businesses like CreeQuest, who provide a lasting legacy to the communities they call home,” said Sherri LaPointe, Superintendent of Indigenous Affairs and Sustainability for Victor Mine.
This was the 15th annual Nova Business Excellence Awards, which De Beers Canada has been proud to sponsor since the company opened its Timmins office more than a decade ago.
