Selling Our Diamonds: From Mine to Market

De Beers sells rough diamonds through two channels: Global Sightholder Sales and Auctions. Our rough diamond sales operations are in key global trading hubs, including Belgium, Botswana, Dubai, Hong Kong, Namibia and South Africa.

GLOBAL SIGHTHOLDER SALES

GLOBAL SIGHTHOLDER SALES

Global Sightholder Sales sells around 90% of De Beers Group’s rough diamonds by value to customers known as Sightholders. These customers are among the world’s leading diamantaires and are active in the major diamond centres.

Sights - sales events for Sightholders – are held 10 times a year in Botswana, Namibia and South Africa, where customers inspect their rough diamond allocations before deciding whether to purchase them. These diamonds originate from De Beers Group’s owned and joint venture operations, and from mines that are certified against the Responsible Jewellery Council Code of Practices and compliant with the Best Practice Principles.

De Beers Group Auctions promotes and sells rough diamonds to registered Sightholders and Non-Sightholders, aiming to innovate and lead best practice for the industry by coming up with customer-driven selling propositions. Our proprietary technology enables our customers to experience a smarter, more seamless way to source diamonds.

We understand every customer may have different requirements in their sourcing needs and therefore we have come up with various selling propositions via our online auctions platform. As part of De Beers, De Beers Group Auctions is committed to facilitating the sale of all eligible diamonds through our elevated trading platform, demonstrating new standards of transparency and accountability for responsible selling and sourcing. OUR COMMITMENT BEYOND DIAMONDS

At De Beers, we are constantly inspired by our rough diamond customers’ long-term commitments to making a positive environmental and societal impact. But today, the conversation is evolving - it’s no longer just about the diamonds themselves. It’s about what happens Beyond Diamonds.

Beyond Diamonds reflects a shift in focus — from valuing diamonds for their beauty alone to measuring success by the positive impact we make. Being part of this industry means embracing our role as responsible global citizens.
