VOORSPOED MINE

Voorspoed is an open-pit mine, which began life in 2008 and is expected to last another 15 years or so, and one of the largest in South Africa. It is known for producing large and exotic coloured diamonds and is located Voorspoed is located around 30 kilometres north east of Kroonstad.

It was the first mine to be opened by De Beers in South Africa since the business entered into a groundbreaking Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment agreement with Ponahalo Holdings in 2006. 

In 2015, Voorspoed produced 704,000 carats of diamonds.
