ReSet Forever Love is an exciting collaboration between De Beers Group and three recent BA Jewellery Design Graduates from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. This next generation of visionary creatives - Kristina Ferenchuk, Ami Masamitsu and Louis Tamlyn - have each developed original jewellery using a mix of rough and polished natural diamonds provided by De Beers Group.

The resulting collection is a unique interpretation of the notions of ‘love’ and ‘forever’ in the 21st century, with a focus on transparency, responsible sourcing and ethical practices.

The collection will be debuted at our international De Beers Group Designers Initiative Shining Light Awards ceremony later in the year, where we will donate £10,000 to launch the new ‘Provenance Award’. The award will support skills development for a young student from one of our producer countries, who shows real promise in the field of jewellery design.

Ami Masamitsu

“Through my research, I was drawn to vintage engagement rings which is like a fragment of past love that is on a continuous journey to the present and future. My piece is a reclaimed vintage 18ct gold engagement band and a single polished diamond, both encased in clear acrylic. My hope is that this modern, deconstructed symbol of love from the past, will forever be passed down and preserved for the future.

"My take on forever love is taking an antique engagement ring that has been passed down for generations and incorporating it into a new modern design."
Ami Masamitsu

We are in an era where high transparency is expected from brands. It is essential that my customers know where and how my diamonds are sourced. I believe De Beers Group’s policies and openness is setting a great example. Using De Beers’ diamonds enables individual designers like me, to be transparent to my customers when speaking about the materials and their ethical journey to their final destination.”

Kristina Ferenchuk

"Through my collection, I wanted to approach ‘love’ and ‘forever’ as something that is ever changing and ever evolving. Because I am obsessed with anything mechanical, my 18ct white gold necklace and ring each have a polished diamond on one side and a rough diamond on the other, that can be rotated according to how you feel. We all have raw and polished aspects to ourselves, so this is a playful reminder that all sides of your character should be embraced and celebrated.

"Love for yourself is not about idealised perfection, it means being in true harmony with yourself, both your rough and polished sides."
Kristina Ferenchuk

Sustainable practices and responsible sourcing are especially important to me. When I looked deeper into De Beers Group’s initiatives, I was amazed to find out about all the incredible projects they have launched to improve standards across the industry and tech for greater transparency. We all have responsibility to educate ourselves on where our materials come from and as designers, we have the power to inspire and educate the consumer to be more aware of the products they buy."

Louis Tamlyn

"I like to take mundane, traditional topics and challenge myself to find a fresh perspective. My collection responds to the idea of love and forever by reimaging a famous icon, the love heart. My enamelled necklace features two polished diamonds and takes inspiration from a 14th century manuscript where the classic love heart symbol was first depicted. The second piece is an abstract heart shaped silver 'brooch', set with rough diamonds.

"Modern love is the role and responsibility you have as a human being to support the community and the environment around you."
Louis Tamlyn

As a new generation designer, it is exciting to be part of a project that is about ethical values and responsible sourcing. I believe caring for the planet is an expression of love and this includes respect and responsibility to your local communities and environment. It was good to hear about initiatives like De Beers Group’s Best Practice Principles which makes sure their mining is done to the highest standards including the welfare of their staff, human rights, labour conditions and environment. It ensures that the story behind every diamond, can be as transparent and beautiful as the diamond itself."
