Introduction

Gitanjali Group is one of the world’s largest integrated branded jewellery manufacturer-retailers with an annual turnover of around $ 2 billion. Established in 1966, today its activities are spread across the entire value chain from rough diamond sourcing, cutting, polishing and distribution, jewellery manufacturing to branding and retailing gold and diamond jewellery in India and abroad.

The Group pioneered the jewellery retail revolution in India by launching ‘Gili’ back in 1994. It today owns and distributes eight out of the top ten jewellery brands in the country including Gili, Nakshatra, Asmi, D’Damas, Sangini, Nizam and Parineeta, to name but a few. Some of these received ‘Best Retailer’ and ‘Retail chain of the year’ awards in India in 2009 and 2011. Gitanjali’s extensive network of own stores, shop-in-shops and franchise outlets span across 300 cities and 4,000 points of sale.

It has world-class diamond polishing and jewellery manufacturing facilities, with the Group’s international design hub is located in Italy. 

Over the last two decades, the Group has expanded operations in USA, UK, Belgium, Italy, Middle East, China, Singapore and Japan.

Today the group owns a large retail chain in the US, Samuels Jewelers Inc (the 5th largest specialty jewellery retailer in the US); and also owns brands such as Stefan Hafner, Valente, Io Si, Poratti and others in Italy.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Gitanjali has been bestowed with several recognitions for its social initiatives. The company recognises the importance of giving back to the society and following are some initiatives:-

Saksham - Trained more than 2,000 rural youths in diamond and jewelry manufacturing in Hyderabad out of which close to 500 were persons with disabilities. Nearly 250 people with disabilities are working with the Company;

Sakshar - Supporting  educational institutes in Palanpur  which provide education to 6,000 students a year;

Sujyot - Conduct and actively support/participate in the cataract eye camp in Bihar where c.10,000 people benefit from the services offered every year;

Srishti - Organize drives for conserving energy and water resources, organizing tree plantation drives etc.

Sneh - Aim to build relationships with organizations and individuals who are active in the field and execute projects which aim to for the uplift society by partnering with them
