Belgo-British Conference: Natural Resources - Challenges and Opportunities, 12-13th of November in Brussels.
This year the Belgo-British Conference will focus on the competition for natural resources:
- How the revenues this generates can be used to build stability rather than fuel conflict.
- Look at existing measures such as the Kimberley Process, the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, the EU’s Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade Process and the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative. Are they working? Could they be improved/expanded?
- Ask what are the opportunities and the risks for business? And what is the role of business in post-conflict reconstruction?
- How to strengthen regional and international partnerships and what should be done next?
