     HOW TO APPLY FOR FUNDING

As a corporate donor, the Fund reviews over 1 000 appeals per year.   As such the Fund evaluates critically the development impact of proposed initiatives and supports those with the strongest value proposition. This ensures that initiatives are in line with Government policy and development practices as well as company objectives.

De Beers does not have the resources of institutional development agencies but it does make a difference by focusing its support on those people and organisations with purpose, those working in big ways and in small to address evident needs in education, welfare, health, HIV/AIDS, skills development and community upliftment in all parts of South Africa. This is more evident in regions where the company's operations are based.

While it is clearly not possible to support all funding requests received, where it can the Fund aims to assist and advise those organisations and projects which are of particular relevance wherever possible.  More detailed information on Criteria for Funding Application.

When submitting an appeal for funding it is important that your submission is as detailed as possible. Please ensure that you clearly describe the project in need of funding, the history of the project, project impact to date, the specific component for which funding is most needed, the exact activities to be carried out, the number of beneficiaries and the areas targeted.
