Social investment by the family of companies is about contributing to the alleviation of poverty and the attainment of national and international development goals. Our main focus relates to health and wellbeing, education, skills and enterprise development as the cornerstones of lasting livelihoods for communities in the vicinity of our operations. In particular we partner with our stakeholders to facilitate broad based socio-economic empowerment and to address the priority of HIV/AIDS wherever we operate.
We do this through three forms of social investment:
- Strategic investment that addresses the poverty barrier through the donation of funds to deliver basic needs and
sustainable health-related projects.
- Education and skills development opportunities that empower individuals and families to attain sustainable
livelihoods.
- Seed capital through our investment funds to catalyse SME development and generate downstream economic
revenues and employment.
Our investment relationships are governed by sound business criteria and planning, and propelled by tangible results as well as best intentions.
