After about ten years in existence, Peo Venture Capital, a Debswana and De Beers partnership, has created over 1200 jobs and funded 59 projects in Botswana.
The average cumulative increase in DTC rough diamond prices since the beginning of 2008 has been 16.0%.
In 1967, the year after Botswana gained its independence from Britain, a huge diamond mine was discovered in a remote area called Orapa, about 250 miles from the capital city of Gaborone.
It has come to De Beers’ attention that the figure put forward by African Diamonds was based upon analysis provided by the Antwerp-based diamond company, Overseas Diamonds.
In the High Court today, Acting Judge Gabriel Rwelengera ruled that African Diamonds’ application was dismissed with costs.
