Brian MacDonald, Managing Director
Before being appointed as the Managing Director of Diamond Trading Company Botswana on 1 April, 2007, Brian was responsible for the Diamond Trading Company’s global rough diamond sorting and purchasing operations.
He joined Diamond Trading Company in 1970, spending 1975 to 1979 as a diamond buyer. In 1981 he moved to London where he formed the Jwaneng production sorting team at Chichester House.
The following year Brian came to Botswana, on contract from the Diamond Trading Company, as a senior quality controller for Botswana Diamond Valuing Company. He was later promoted to deputy general manager of the same company.
After a three year period in London, Brian returned to Botswana Diamond Valuing Company in 1990 where he became the general manager. In 1996 he returned to London as director of the Diamond Trading Company’s rough diamond division.
Brian was then appointed executive director of sorting and purchasing for the Diamond Trading Company in February 2004.
